The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon

In essence, have fun and enjoy the ride. It’s not enough to know your final destination; you need to ensure you enjoy the ride until you get there. Many people act like they are going to live forever. They spend their lives amassing wealth, possessions, and power only to leave it all when their bus rides are over. Instead of enjoying their rides, they prefer to focus on meaningless things. They worry about deadlines, emails, promotions, and argue with co-workers and family members about unnecessary things forgetting that most things in life are temporary. Their bus is going through life, but they are blind to the beauty around them. For instance, if anything happens to you today, you will still have many emails in your inbox that will be unanswered. You’ll never get it all done, so you might as well relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the ride.

Don’t go through life with regrets. Don’t be someone who looks back and says I should have done this or that. Live and work like someone who has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Don’t be tempted to compare the success of your bus to other buses. Just enjoy your ride. The greatest legacy you could leave is a world that has been influenced and touched by your joy, presence, and your positive actions. Life is a test, and every challenge helps us grow. We learn what we don't want from negative events and people so we can focus our energy on what we want.

High lights
  • Positive energy is a necessary factor for success as you journey through life
  • Always remember that you determine what happens on your bus because you are the driver
  • Be fully aware of what you need to move your bus in the right direction
  • You cannot do without positive energy as you commence your journey
  • Carry people along as you journey through life
  • Don't force anyone to get on your bus
  • Kick off energy vampires and be enthusiastic all through your ride
  • Let love and purpose be your driving forces
Try this

Take a thank-you walk. Although there might be a lot of negativity around you, things may not be going the way you want, but you can start by being grateful that you’re alive. Walk around your neighborhood or compound and remind yourself what you’re grateful for.
